2018 Roundup | The Women Who Lived, Time Team, Cosplay and more!

This Year In Stuff

Dressed To Impress

2018 kicked off with the launch of a new semi-regular feature on cosplay in Doctor Who Magazine.

Yes, and...

In early 2018, I took part in a six week Improv for Beginners course held by improv group The RH Experience and we performed on stage for the first time ever at their monthly comedy night RH and Friends! What an experience!

Voyage, voyage

In April, I became Digital Marketing Manager at BBC Studios where I work as part of the team executing digital marketing plans for Doctor Who. As part of this role, I worked for one month out of BBC Studios' Beijing office to immerse myself in the China market and better understand the challenges of working from a market that cannot access many of the social media platforms our business uses. It was a wonderful, eye opening experience. I even met some fans over there!

Time Team

Also in May, Doctor Who Magazine’s brand-new ‘Time Team’ feature launched, of which I am a member. Confused? Think Gogglebox, in print.

Booky Wook

‘The Women Who Lived: Amazing Tales for Future Time Lords’ materialised online and in book stores on 27th September! The book features 75+ inspiring women from both classic and modern Doctor Who.

Saturday Live

In October, I chatted on BBC Radio 4’s Saturday Live about how Doctor Who resonated with me as someone who is LGBT+ and grew up in foster care, it’s appeal to “outsiders”, cosplay and more! Listen here.

Who Cares?

And finally, also in October, I was very honoured to be invited by care leaver’s charity Become to speak at Parliament about employment for care leavers. It was great to compare and contrast experiences and hear from other care leavers about the challenges they face.

That's all for now folks!

Don't forget to follow me on Twitter (@ChristelDee) and Facebook for regular updates.

Until then, Happy New Year and have a great 2019!
